Dr. Ronald Martin Jr., PhD

Lead: (Technical Director, USA) WASH and Water/Wastewater Process Engineering

Ron is an invaluable resource to any project team. Ron possesses a depth of knowledge in the fields of water and wastewater engineering, chemical engineering and process design, and is well versed in associated environmental policy and regulation at an international level. His research capability is par excellence. Ron has recently reviewed and designed processes for $200M upgrade of Nkana Water Supply and Sanitation Project in Copperbelt Province of Zambia to solve problems of surface water contamination from mining and for a rapidly increasing population.
He also recently completed a Wastewater Management Feasibility Study for 66 bed hospital in South Sudan. Ron identified treatment processes and equipment for several South African drinking water utilities and wrote a Scoping Assessment Report for St. Vincent and the Grenadines water supply and sanitation resilience and sustainability project for recovery from volcanic eruption and future disasters.
He has also drafted proposal for Scoping Studies on water integrity and corruption in the water sector.

Other key projects include: 

  • Provided Water Treatment Processes for Odor and Taste removal and control methods to reduce and eliminate odor/taste causing organisms from water supply for Lilongwe Water Board.
  • Provided process review and technical support on wastewater treatment and effluent recycle for golf resort in South Africa ($1M).
  • Identified, analyzed, and proposed most appropriate and sustainable treatment options for iron and manganese removal, sulfate reduction, limiting disinfection byproduct (DBP) formation, pH control, and pathogen and microbe destruction and removal.
  • Designed processes for chemical oxidation, disinfection, inline mixing, precipitation, coagulation/flocculation/settling, and lime softening.

Lead: (Founding Partner) Project Development, Preparation and Management, Risk and Contingency

Having worked in engineering consultancy since 1999, our Founding Partner Bado shares with the world the engineering, business and project management skills he has developed over two decades of practice in a variety of countries, both developed and developing. This recent reinvention of his practice entails a holistic shift into a specialized niche within consultancy, and practicing primarily as Project Development Consultant and as a Specialist Engineering Consultant on water sector projects. His Project Development consultancy specialization blends together engineering, business and project management skills, in collaboration with other professionals such as economic analysts, utility management specialists, accountants and planners, to name a few, in the process of visualizing, preparing, funding and execution of projects. The majority of projects he selects for development will focus on human development and also the food-water-energy nexus. As Project Development Lead, he focuses on the structuring and implementation of a wide variety of projects, primarily in and around Southern Africa, however, all of these projects will have the common thread of human development and sustainability as primary drivers, as well as providing scalability and attractive yield to project investors. This project will provide a vital resource to users in terms of situational awareness and risk mitigation for a host of topical scenarios, and will be developed by project teams in South Africa, the United States and Germany. Be on the lookout for the launch in Q2 of 2023. Nkosana is an entrepreneur with a knack forbuilding teams & taking businesses from idea to operation through implementation of systems & processes.With over 12 years in the IT industry, Nkosana started his career as a Business Analyst at Accenture where he was instrumental in implementing SAP systems for banks and other financial institutions. He later co-founded a software software company which focuses on building efficiency tools for software development teams. His experience spans from project management, operations, and business development for the company (which he has raised millions of rands for). Nkosana also has experience in data analysis. In 2020 when the world believed that there were no COVID cases in Africa, Nkosana took it upon himself to build a basic application that pulls various data to prove that the virus had hit our shores during 2019 December holidays, and using this data he was able to determine the rate at which the virus may be spreading and to estimate the number of people who may have been infected. The application won him a prize at the Business Intelligence Hackathon.

Honorius is an experienced Engineer, Project Management Professional, International Arbitrator, and Planner.He has over 25 Years project and business management experience in  the EPC and Project Finance environments. Honorius has an extensive background in project development, planning and management of cross-functional business operations and projects. He is an analytical and conceptual thinker who effectively partners with other senior professionals and managers to assess opportunities, facilitate strategic decisions and direction and drive successful implementation of projects using global project management practices. Honorius holds an MSc. Project Management degree from the University of Pretoria, Post Graduate Diploma in International Arbitration, Civil Engineering Technology Diploma from Copperbelt University, several other qualifications in Project Management, Strategic Planning & Management and Contract Law.

Waki is an experienced Strategy and business management expert, Management Consultant and Trainer.  He has undertaken feasibility studies and business plans for various investment projects, including the determination of financial and economic viability of projects.  In his previous experience, he has served as a team member on various consulting projects in both the private and public sectors of various Southern African Development Community (SADC) countries.  Waki is also an effective and experienced management trainer especially in the field of strategic and business planning. He has previously served as Manager, Deloitte & Touche Development Solutions, and as an Investment Officer at the World Bank’s International Finance Corporation (IFC). He has undertaken numerous feasibility studies on behalf of project sponsors for presentation to prospective financing institutions.  His work includes making financial projections to determine the financial viability of projects, putting forward financing plans for the consideration of both the sponsors and the financing institutions, and in general, determining the economic, social and environmental impact of a particular project.  He has also undertaken missions to various countries in the Southern African Region to promote  projects and to negotiate with project sponsors and other stakeholders.

Based in Nassau, Bahamas, Charo is Chief Executive Officer at one of our partner firms, Walker Consulting, an international development/business firm providing consultancy services to multi and bilateral donor agencies, government institutions, non-profit organizations and the private sector. Charo holds an MA in International Trade & Investment Policy with a focus in Economic Policy Analysis from The George Washington University, a Bachelor’s degree magna cum laude in Political Science and Economics from Howard University, and an Associate’s degree in History with distinction from the College of The Bahamas. She is currently a member of the association of Black Professionals in International Affairs (BPIA), the Society for International Development (SID) and the Project Management Institute (PMI).
